72 nominations received in the 2025 Call of UNESCO´s Memory of the World Regional Register for Latin America and the Caribbean

At the closing of its 2025 Call, the Regional Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean of UNESCO´s Memory of the World Programme (MOWLAC) received a total of 72 applications, a record number representing double the number submitted in 2024.

This year, there are 16 participating countries, with the following number of nominations: Argentina (3), Bolivia (8), Brasil (18), Colombia (11), Costa Rica (2), Cuba (1), Chile (1), Dominica (3), Ecuador (3), Guatemala (1), México (7), Perú (8), Santa Lucía (1), Trinidad y Tobago (1), Uruguay (2) y Venezuela (2). 

Applications will be assessed during the XXV MoWLAC annual meeting, within the framework of the commemorative event to mark the 25th Anniversary of its creation, organized in Lima and Cusco, Peru, from 10 to 13 November 2025, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Peru, the Regional Government of Cusco, and the Peruvian Committee of UNESCO´s Memory of the World Programme. 

On this occasion, the International Conference “Challenges and achievements in the preservation of Latin American and Caribbean documentary heritage”, will also be held with the presence of professionals and authorities from institutions safeguarding the documentary heritage of Peru and the region. 

The results of the 2025 Call will be announced at the end of the XXV annual meeting of MoWLAC and will be published on the website.
